The film revolves around the story of which 5 are goliardic with fifty friends in Florence in his mid sixties and seventies, trying to prolong the state of his happy childhood, escaping responsibility and the torment of adult life.

The count Raphael Mascetti is the character played by Ugo Tognazzi. Lello, as it is affectionately called by his wife, is an impoverished nobleman who, having squandered two legacies (and that of his wife), is forced to live in a basement. However it has not lost the inimitable humor that characterizes his person.
